Rotundine, also known as craniidine, L-tetrahydropalmatine, chemical name is 2,3,9,10-tetramethoxy-5,8,13,13a-tetrahydro-6H-dibenzo[a ,g] quinazine, the levorotatory of tetrahydropalmatine (dl-THP), is a blocker of dopamine receptors in the brain, and preferentially blocks the brain regions rich in dopamine receptors such as cortex and striatum.It also achieves analgesic effect by strengthening the function of the internal anti-pain system and inhibiting the transmission of pain information to the center.
Rotundine is an antipyretic and analgesic drug. It is mainly used in the treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer pain, menstrual pain, post-partum contraction pain, tension insomnia, and spasmodic cough.
Function
1.Rotundine has the protective effect on liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride in mice.
2.Rotundine has analgesia and sedative-hypnotic activity, can depress the chtonic persistent pain and splanchna dull pain.
3,Rotundine has effect of promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis and promoting circulation of qi to relieve pain.
4.Rotundine is often used for hypochondriac pain due to stagnation of the liver-qi, stomachache due to stagnation of the stomach-qi, hernial pain.
