Mangiferin is derived from the seed of a west african tree also sometimes referred to as African Mango, Wild Mango or Bush Mango. The tree produces fleshy yellow fruit which contain large fibrous seeds, sometimes called Dika nuts. The people of west africa have used the fruit and seeds of irvingia gabonensis as a source of food and for medicinal purposes for generations.
Function
1.Mangiferin on the normal or impaired in vitro Ringcrs fluid perfusion frog heart has a short, exact increase in myocardial contractility, and the effect is not blocked, therefore, it may be a Direct cardiac stimulant.
2.Mangiferin in vitro anti-herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-V) role, plaque reduction rate of 56.8%, its anti-viral effect due to its ability to inhibit intracellular viral replication.
3.Mangiferin is a natural antioxidant free radical scavenging, but also a natural radiation protective agent.
4.Mangiferin can increase the cytotoxic effect of spleen cells and peritoneal macrophages.
5.Mangiferin can effectively reduce the doxorubicin (Dox) mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase inhibition.
6.After the mangiferin and its glucoside, the normal mice had no change in the blood glucose level, but could reduce the blood glucose level in the KK-Ay mice of spontaneous diabetic animal model and the serum level also decreased.
7.Mangiferin significantly reduced the amount of glycosylated hemoglobin and serum creatine phosphokinase (CPK) in diabetic rats due to oxidative damage.
